...no matter how bad things seem right now.
“Of all the forces that make for a better world, none is so indispensable, none so powerful, as hope. Without hope people are only half alive. With hope they dream and think and work.”
“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.”
Thich Nhat Hanh (Vietnamese Monk, b.1926)
“Hope is not a dream but a way of making dreams become reality.”
"Hoping means seeing that the outcome you want is possible, and then working for it.”
“When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.”
“Hope...is the companion of power, and the mother of success; for who so hopes has within him the gift of miracles.”
Samuel Smiles (Scottish author, 1812-1904)
“It all hinges on hope. It all hinges on hope...all of it.”
“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?” Matthew 6:26
But, even the birds of the air have to keep moving and looking to find their food. And so do you. So, don’t just stop...keep a “move-on”. Keep working and striving and most of all, keep your dreams alive. People who end up out on the street end up there because they are either physically disabled or gave up hope. The universe will provide, but you have to cooperate and do your part.. And, if need be...let the bankruptcy laws help. Sitting in the bottom of a hole doesn’t get you out of the hole. ....Let bankruptcy be your ladder, so life can go on.
All things pass, and these troubles will too. “The hope is there. The sun is rising. Our best days are yet to come.” Think back. You had troubles in the past, troubles that you thought you would never get past. But you did...by moving forward...one step at a time. You may have had to head in a direction you never expected...but low and behold...you got to a point in time where you were completely happy and looked bad at the all the hurt and bad times as the best thing that could have happened to you...that you would end up in a place where you were happy again. That is the way life works. And that is the way life will continue to work. The secret is to have hope and against all odds...keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sure...it’s hard. It’s hard to be disappointed and cast down. It seems unfair...but just like the universe took you to a good place eventually...it will do so again..and again.
“The miserable have no other medicine but hope. Lucky for them...the ever constant cure-ALL is hope.”
Hope is the key. Without hope...there is no future. Take on an attitude of hope...even if...at first...you have to fake it. “Hope is a talent like any other”. The more we force ourselves to feel it, the better at holding on to it we will become.
“Hope against hope” is better than no hope at all. Hope is the catalyst for getting a “move on”, the spark to start “trying” again. Trying is not always successful, but enough tries and there will be successes....and with enough successes...hope will become an addiction and not a companion you have to force upon yourself.
Hope is the blind faith that one day we will see what does not even exist today.
Hope is the engine for change.
The universe will not give you all you want...but..with hope and work...it will give you what you need.
“No man is beaten until his hope is annihilated, his confidence gone. As long as a man faces life hopefully, confidently, triumphantly, he is not a failure; he is not beaten until he turns his back on life.”
Orison Swett Marden
All of what once seemed impossible became possible
.... because someone did not give up hope.
Right now...you have to be that “someone”.
Proverbs
The capacity for hope is the most significant fact of life. It provides human beings with a sense of destination and the energy to get started.”
Norman Cousins
Every day, life is difficult. It seems like that is how life was designed. We should not look at our good days as “normal”, but rather as “bonus” days, days that will allow us to store up energy for the more normal difficult days ahead. Having a bad day, month or year? That is normal. From our difficulties and our pain, come the lessons we learn. Sad but true. No pain, no gain. Hope is what makes the difference. “What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise”
Hope is what gets us through these difficult times. Without hope, there is only depression and despair. With hope, there is a focus on the task and the possibility of future joy in the lessons learned. Without hope...there is just an unfillable void, a dead end where no one wants to keep company with us. With hope...there is the possibility of renewal.
Get by this problem, and another is waiting. Hope is the attitude of gratefulness we can grasp here and there along the way.
It is a delusion that we want to be happy and content. When we have hold of too much of it, it turns out not to be enough. It is looking on beauty. It becomes boring when glimpsed too much.
“It is not for man to rest in absolute contentment. He is born to hopes and aspirations as the sparks fly upward, unless he has brutified his nature and quenched the spirit of immortality which is his portion.”
Robert Southey (English Poet and Writer of prose. 1774-1843)
We strive for the challenge, whether we realize it or not. The problem is that the challenges are not always of our own choice or making, and not the type we had thought or prepared ourselves to fact. Challenges we face are often of the kind that seem to come out of left field and...as such...tend to overwhelm us. In those times, we must grab hold of whatever faith we can pull upon and also hope. Having done so, we start over the process of slugging through...inch by inch...whatever challenge is thrust upon us. What choice do we really have?
It is the same for all of us. All of us have struggles and challenges we must continually face. They line up waiting in turn each one set to replace the last...each one intend on taking a shot at us. It is only an illusion to think that other people around you...and human being in general...have it better than you or that they do not have their own challenges. It seems, God gives us the challenges we need to learn lessons particular to each our unique souls. Different challenges for each of us. What’s easy for you is a challenge for the next man, and what’s each for the next man, is the challenge for us. If you are reading this, then debt problems and the causes of those debt problems is the challenge for you. We are all drawn through some sort of fire or another. The richest man, for example, has problems too... in his case...the problems that money cannot protect against, all the challenges that the responsibility that having money bring, and all the problems of getting old, and the problems causes to all of us by the certainty of death. All the money in the world will not deny death its toll.
So, take heart as best you can and in your own way...and keep the fires of hope burning. Hope provides the energy to meet our challenges and to keep pounding...even against what appear to be insurmountable odds.
He who can maintain hope at all times still has troubles, but the troubles are seen as “pit-stops”, not final destinations. But only is there is hope. Without hope, the pit-stop is the final destination, a destination of “no hope”.
Have more bills than you can pay?
It is totally free and yours to use as you like.
“What oxygen is to the lungs,
.... such is hope to the meaning of life”
Emil Brunner
“There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow”
Orison Swett Marden
“Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but not a second without hope. Without hope, there is no life.”
Where there’s life, there is hope, and where there’s hope, there is life.
“Hope arouses, as nothing else can arouse, a passion for what’s possible.”
“Expect nothing, but know that great things lie ahead for you”
If not for yourself...hold onto hope and do it for your kids and for future generations.
