She has the added distinction of being the wife of three legendary stars: Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra. She died in 1990 of a stroke suffered during a visit home, and is buried beside her parents, Jonah (1878-1938) and Mollie Gardner (1883-1943), and siblings at Sunset Memorial Park, in Smithfield. The Ava Gardner Museum is located in Smithfield at 325 East Market Street in the heart of downtown and is open daily.
